Evaluation & Assessment Duties
• 2011 – ongoing: Chief Examiner for Petrology at Uppsala University. I am responsible for keeping and improving the standard of petrology education at UU, which involves the inspection and approval of all BSc and MSc thesis from UU in this field.
• 2011 – ongoing: Steering Committee Member for ESF network MeMoVolc (www.esf.org) to represent Sweden (co-funded by the Swedish Science Foundation - VR). The network distributes a total of ~500,000 Euro for researcher mobility in the field of volcanology.
• 2012/13: Panel Member National Research Council for Natural Sciences and Engineering, Finland (Academy of Finland).
• 2011: Research Program Assessor for 2010 research and strategy report of LKAB, Sweden’s governmental owned nuclear waste storage company.
• 2006, 2010: Independent Assessor for UNESCO regarding applications for Teide (Tenerife) and Auvergne (France) to become Natural World Heritage Sites.
• 2005: Neutral Observer for EC project ’Erupt’ coordinated by Prof. J. Davidson, Durham University, UK.
• 2005 – ongoing: Frequent Proposal Reviewer for e.g. NSF (USA), NERC (UK), Academy of Findland, Swiss Science Foundation, European Science Foundation (ESF), UNESCO and several private trusts and foundations.
